M6 Bayonet
In 1957, the M6 bayonet was developed for the M14 battle rifle, which had just been released. The M6 has a spear-point blade that is quite narrow and suited for thrusting. A groove along the rear grip and pommel fits into a lug beneath the M14 rifles barrel to attach the M6. In order to provide additional stability without obstructing the barrel, the muzzle ring on the bayonet guard slips over the barrel. This allows the rifle to fire while the bayonet is still connected. This bayonet was provided with the M14 rifle during Jon D. Bayers time in Vietnam
